Low Testosterone level – Your Testosterone May Be Lower than You Think

Low Testosterone level – Your Testosterone May Be Lower than You Think: Okay, time to stop scrolling through your twitter feed and conversations on Reddit and instead, pay attention to this article.

If you’re a man, then you most likely have Low Testosterone level. These low levels don’t clear up on their own—they set you up for a variety of health problems in the future you definitely don’t want to deal with.

While you think you understand the purpose of testosterone, there may be much you don’t know about low testosterone including when and how it affects men.

For starters, let’s dispel a few myths:

  • Low T is not exclusive to men over the age of 40. In fact, low levels can begin in a man’s early 20s and become a serious problem very quickly.
  • Heavy squats can increase your T levels post workout, however, that increase does not lead to muscle gains.
  • Your post workout shake could be lowering your testosterone.

If you’re confused, you’re not alone. Right now, you’re exactly where you are supposed to be, getting the information you need to take action so you can bring your hormones back into balance.

Our understanding of testosterone is changing. Low T is not exclusive to aging men and isn’t a problem that can be fixed with pills. What most already know is that testosterone is the primary male growth hormone. With it you can build muscle and burn fat. More importantly, it’s what powers your sex drive, fights depression and helps prevent diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.

Testosterone naturally begins to drop off in a man’s 30s and 40s however, what we are learning is that the average level of testosterone has dropped anywhere from 20 to 30 percent in the last 20 years. More than 5 million men have been diagnosed with low testosterone and, according to the International Journal of Clinical Practice, more than 12 million men suffer from hormone imbalances but are unaware the problems exist.

Why is low t persistent and increasing problem? The simple answer is fat. The heavier you are, the lower your testosterone will be. More accurately, the more fat you carry around your abdomen, the more aromatase you produce, an enzyme that converts your testosterone into the female hormone estrogen. This can decrease muscle mass, harm arousal and even affect your mood. By trimming the fat, you can ensure balanced hormones, normal T levels and continue looking young for as long as possible.

Studies also suggest that lack of sleep is closely linked to low testosterone. In combination with high stress, you have a recipe for imbalanced hormones.

Stress triggers an increase in cortisol, a hormone in the body associated with interruptions in sleep patterns. Lack of sleep elevates cortisol levels even more which leads to worsening sleep patterns. Research indicates that poor quality sleep could cause up to a 15 percent decrease in testosterone, giving you a great reason to reduce stress and sleep more.

In addition to sleep, stress, and fat, the voice of many can have a huge impact on testosterone. Alcohol can lower your testosterone by as much as 10 percent according to research. Even more alarming, researchers reported that the drop took only 3 weeks meaning prolonged consumption could be even more harmful.

Mainstream media would like you to believe that the only way to improve a hormone issue is with drugs when in fact testosterone therapy has been linked to cardiac issues and even decreased sperm production.

On the other hand, boosting testosterone naturally isn’t all that difficult. In addition to a diet rich in whole plant foods, regular exercise, and restful sleep, natural supplements can be hugely beneficial.

A study out of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas examined the effects of fenugreek supplementation on strength and body composition in resistance-trained men. Researchers found that while both the placebo and fenugreek groups significantly increased their strength during the first four weeks, only the fenugreek group saw significant increases in strength after eight weeks of training and supplementation. These findings suggest that fenugreek could help men continue to increase strength after reaching a dreaded plateau. Additionally, only the fenugreek group saw significant increases in lean body mass at both four and eight weeks. Fenugreek has also shown to improve sexual function and well-being.

Fenugreek is the primary ingredient in a safe and natural supplement for boosting Low Testosterone level called Chemforce. In addition to boosting testosterone, it has shown to improve sperm count, sperm morphology, and can help protect the male reproductive system. Comprised of Furosap® containing Protodioscin as the major fraction, Chemforce is a promising natural remedy that can help improve the overall quality of life in men who have low T. A Grocery List to have a healthy Testosterone Level

Here is a Grocery List to have a Healthy Testosterone Level. Spoiler alert, they’re all plants! Yes gentlemen, you can have your vegetables and make gains too all while flooding your body with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals that promote Healthy Testosterone Level and overall wellbeing.

Testosterone is important for both men and women to consider. The hormone supports our libido, mood, energy and motivation. For women, some testosterone is necessary to ward off excess estrogen which can lead to depression, weight gain, and imbalanced sex hormones. For men, testosterone is the primary growth hormone that’s needed to build muscle and maintain sex drive.

The key nutrients needed to boost Healthy Testosterone Level are amino acids (protein), zinc, B vitamins, omega-3 fatty acids and an overall diet free from inflammatory foods. These nutrients can be found in both plant and animal foods however, with animal foods, you are also consuming animal hormones and antibiotics. In fact, vegans have exhibited higher Healthy Testosterone Level than meat-eaters or vegetarians in addition to the lowest heart disease and cancer rates.

We’ll show you how to get your fill of nutrient-dense, testosterone boosting food without the risk of animal products. Now that’s what we call guilt-free eating.

Cruciferous Vegetables

2

This family of veggies includes all your favorites: broccoli, kale, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, and cauliflower. These aren’t your favorite? Try sautéing a blend of these vegetables with minced garlic, ginger, red chili and soy sauce for an irresistible Asian flavor. On top of that, cruciferous vegetables are an anti-estrogenic food that releases a compound known as indole-3 carbinole. This compound is converted to di-indollyl methane (DIM) which then converts estrogen into safer forms thus, allowing healthy levels of free testosterone. This binds to androgen receptors to increase sex drive, build muscle, reduce fat and boost your performance at the gym.

Get cooking!

 3

Spinach

Popeye had the right idea with this one. Spinach, a green, leafy vegetable, is loaded with the mineral magnesium which plays a crucial role in muscle development and reproductive function. According to a study published by Biological Trace Element Research, magnesium increases free and total testosterone in athletes and non-active individuals.

Toss a handful in a fruit smoothie or pile it on top of your veggie burger with tempe bacon and avocado. There are many ways to enjoy spinach!

Avocado

4
Figure 1 theawesomegreen.com

Speaking of avocado, this fruit’s (yep, it’s a fruit) concentration of healthy fats and high levels of vitamin B-6 both reduce cortisol and improve testosterone production. Avocados also support the metabolism and overall mood function. Its healthy fats can reduce high levels of bad (LDL) cholesterol which interferes with the production of testosterone and raise good (HDL) cholesterol.

Throw these on a salad, pizza or veggie burger or make incredible sauces and even desserts. But we’re sure you already knew about the power of avocados.

Mushrooms

5
Thought these were just empty calories? Wrong. Mushrooms prevent the production of the enzyme aromatase. It converts androgen into estrogen which prevents free testosterone from binding to androgen receptors.

Mushrooms are also a surprising meat substitute with a texture similar to beef when cooked.

Throw them on the grill for some creative (still manly) barbequing!

Potatoes

6

Figure 3 gringalicious.com

If you’re a frequent reader, then you know we are all about the carbohydrates. In fact, they are tremendously important for healthy testosterone production. So, eat all the potatoes including sweet, russet, white, red and purple potatoes. They are an excellent source of gluten-free, nutrient dense carbohydrates that support hormone balance and fat loss.

Pomegranates

7
Figure 4 Source: pinterest.com

Recent studies have shown that consuming pomegranate juice increased salivary Healthy Testosterone Level by 24% after just 2 weeks while also lowering diastolic and systolic blood pressure. Pomegranates and their juice have also shown to reduce arterial plaque, protect the body against LDL cholesterol, and oxidative damage.

Dark Berries

8Berries, especially Acai, have won the world over with their health benefits. In fact, the darker the berry, the higher the antioxidant content and the more antioxidants you consume, the less inflammation and oxidative damage takes place in the body. This also means faster recovery after a workout and increased testosterone production and testosterone molecule preservation.

They also contain a unique fiber called Calcium-D-Glucarate, which has shown to help remove excess estrogen.

Fenugreek

9
Figure 5 Source: livestrong.com

Produced primarily in India and traditionally used to prepare curry powders, pickles, and pastes, studies are now investigating Fenugreek for its anabolic properties.

A study out of University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas examined the effects of fenugreek supplementation on strength and body composition in resistance-trained men.

CHEMFORCE: MUSCLE MASS AND BONE HEALTH INDUCER

CHEMFORCE is a Muscle Mass and Bone Health Inducer It is a precise & amp; powerful blend of cutting edge natural ingredients designed to support healthy testosterone activity levels. It has been devised exclusively for men over the age of 18, featuring one of the highest ultra powerful protodioscin contents available.

Chemforce contains a patent-protected protodioscin developed from fenugreek seed extract which has been developed for boosting testosterone levels in men. Men with erectile dysfunction or hypogonadism are unable to produce normal quantity of testosterones in the body due to which many complications arise. Furosap ® , the main ingredient in Chemforce is a clinically proven remedy to maintain normal testosterone levels in men.

PROTODIOSCIN

Protodioscin is the active constituent in Chemforce which is responsible for testosterone boosting in men. The site of action of protodioscin is the enzyme named 5-α-reductase. This enzyme catalyzes the conversion of testosterone to dihydro testosterone (DHT). This conversion is more beneficial for men as DHT is more active form of testosterone in the body. This increase in DHT levels promotes the muscle development, makes the bones healthy, activates RBCs and thus, promotes healthy sexual functions in men.

Protodioscin helps to increase androgen receptors in the cells due to which more testosterone is attached to the respective receptors of the cells to promote libido in men and helps to improve erectile dysfunction.

TESTOSTERONE & Muscle Mass and Bone Health Inducer

Testosterone is the primary hormone responsible for muscle growth. Testosterone triggers muscle growth by protein synthesis in muscular tissue. Testosterone generates a response in the muscular tissue due to which body itself increases the strength and size of muscular tissue by adding new protein strands to muscle fibers. This results in the increase in Muscle Mass and Bone Health Inducer.

capture-2

Testosterone generates the response in muscular tissue by binding to receptors on the surface of muscle cells and intensifies the biochemical signals in muscle tissue that results in protein synthesis. Testosterone also increases levels of another growth factor, called growth hormone, which the body releases in response to exercise. Like testosterone, growth hormone also increases protein synthesis and result in increased muscle growth.

By any way, testosterone boosts protein synthesis in skeletal muscle.  The result of all of the functions by testosterone is an overall increase in muscular size, strength and recovery from exercise.

Furosap ® treatment: Swaroop A et al. performed clinical study of fenugreek seed extract – Furosap ® in male volunteers. The single armed and open labeled study proved that Furosap ® was effective in improving testosterone levels in men.

chemforce-box

This clinical study of Furosap ® found that:
  • Free testosterone levels were improved up to 46% in the enrolled population.
  • Furosap ® was also proved to be safe in humans as there was no significant change in serum lipid function, cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL         and LDL levels, hemogram (CBC), hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity.
  • It can also be interpreted from this clinical study that free testosterone levels improved by Furosap ® might also be effective in muscle             growth.

Aswar U et al. also studied the effect of fenugreek on reproductive system of male Wistar rats. They found that fenugreek was completely safe in the animals and effective in producing positive reproductive effects. Fenugreek increased muscle mass and body weight in the animals at the end of the treatment. They reported that anabolic agents increase protein synthesis within cells, which results in the buildup of cellular tissue (anabolism), especially in muscles. Fenugreek also increased the anabolic activity in the rats which resulted in increased protein synthesis in the muscles. They also reported that fenugreek furostanol glycoside possessed anabolic activity which increased muscle mass in the rats. This promoted the muscle strength and mass.

Griggs RC et al. has also reported that testosterone increased muscle mass by promoting muscle protein synthesis. They studied the effect of testosterone dose in normal male subjects. They found that testosterone increased the muscle mass up to 27% in all the male subjects without any side effect.

TESTOSTERONE & Muscle Mass and Bone Health Inducer

Testosterone plays an important role in the bone cell function & bone density. It acts in a dual mode of action in bone cells i.e. via

  • Androgen receptor
  • Estrogen receptor

Androgen receptor: It has been reported by a study that bone cells have androgen receptors. This androgen receptor is the acting site for the more active form of testosterone i.e. dihydrotestosterone. Once DHT is attached at the receptor on bone cells, they might promote proliferation and differentiation of osteoblasts, inhibit osteoclast recruitment or affect osteoblast-to-osteoclast signaling. This promotes bone health.

Estrogen receptor: Testosterone is converted into estradiol via aromatization in many tissues including male bone. This conversion is catalyzed by P 450 aromatase enzyme, which is present in many peripheral tissues, including bone. The converted estradiol attaches itself on estorogen receptors (ERα or ERβ) in bone cells which contributes to the maintenance of bone mass after reaching peak bone mass. Animal studies have also confirmed that the estrogen receptor activation is involved in the regulation of male skeletal growth.

Chemforce treatment: Considering the reported data, if testosterone levels are maintained in hypogonadal men, then, bone health can also be maintained. Fenugreek seed extract – Chemforce is such food supplement which is reported to boost testosterone levels in hypogonadal men. When the testosterone levels are boosted in men, then bone health might also be maintained by this hormone via any of the given mechanism.

Another ingredient in Chemforce, Alpha Yohimbine is a known aphrodisiac.

EVIDENCE BASED SIMPLE WAYS TO IMPROVE TESTOSTERONE

SIMPLE WAYS TO IMPROVE TESTOSTERONE:

Testosterone is an important hormone for sexual and reproductive growth & development. The National Institute of Health considers it as the most important hormone. It is responsible for sex drive, sperm production, fat distribution, maintenance of muscle mass and strength. Below are the best and SIMPLE WAYS TO IMPROVE TESTOSTERONE level:

It is well established now that with age, its levels decrease in men. Here are some very important and SIMPLE WAYS TO IMPROVE TESTOSTERONE level.

Weight lifting and stamina building exercises

Exercise is one of the most effective and simple ways to improve testosterone and to prevent many lifestyle-related diseases. Interestingly, it can also boost your testosterone. Vaamonde et al reported that there are differences in semen and hormone values of physically active subjects and sedentary subjects. Physically active subjects seem to have a more anabolic hormonal environment and a healthier semen production. Ari et al studied effect of exercise on testosterone levels growth hormone levels etc. They observed that long-term exercise decreased reaction time and increased maximum oxygen uptake capacity, testosterone levels growth hormone levels in elderly males; elevated serum T and GH levels may be advantageous for brain functions.

Obesity is known to have negative impact on testosterone levels.

2

Kumagai recently reported that serum testosterone levels in the high physical activity group were significantly higher than those in the low activity group. This effect was not observed between the groups based on calorie restriction levels. They found a significant positive correlation between the changes in serum testosterone levels and the number of steps. The results suggested that an increase in physical activity greatly affected the increased serum testosterone levels in overweight and obese men during lifestyle modification.

Resistance training, such as weight lifting, is the best type of exercise to boost.

Diet

3

Diet has major impact on your testosterone levels. Dieting or overeating has negative impact on testosterone levels. Lado-Abeal reported that satisfactory function of the HPG axis requires a functional (protein) reserve as well as an energy (fat) reserve.

Protein diet can help you in fight against obesity, enhances weight loss and improves your testosterone levels.

A diet based mainly on whole foods is best, with a healthy balance of fat, protein and carbs. This can optimize both hormone levels and long-term health.

Vitamin D supplementation

Pilz et al studied influence of Vitamin D supplementation on testosterone levels. The results clearly showed that vitamin D supplementation does increase testosterone levels. A year long study found that supplementing with around 3,000 IU of vitamin D3 per day increased testosterone levels by around 25%.

Vitamin D and calcium supplementation improved testosterone levels and further improved bone strength in older patients.

Managing Stress

It is a very SIMPLE WAYS TO IMPROVE TESTOSTERONE. Long term stress has negative impact on various function4s of the body.  It also causes decrease in testosterone levels and increased levels of cortisol. Cummings reported that hypercortisolism of endogenous or exogenous sources suppress T secretion by a direct action on the testis. This adrenal-testicular axis may have biological implications on the reproductive adaptation to stress.

A caution effort to reduce stress, healthy diet, exercise, balanced lifestyle, along with good sleep helps in maintaining normal hormone levels and good health.

Multi Vitamin and Mineral Supplementation

It has been reported that Zinc and multivitamin supplementation improved sperm quality and testosterone levels. In a research study 10 male wrestlers were supplemented with oral zinc sulfate (3 mg/kg/day) for 4 weeks in addition to their normal diet. Thyroid hormone and testosterone levels of all subjects were determined as resting and exhaustion before and after zinc supplementation.  Both resting and exhaustion total and free testosterone levels following 4-week zinc supplementation were found significantly higher than the levels (both resting and exhaustion) measured before zinc supplementation (p<0.05).

5Take Fenugreek as natural testosterone booster

Fenugreek seed extract is reported to improve testosterone levels.

Steels and co workers conducted a study on 60 healthy males aged between 25 and 52. The extract (600mg) was consumed orally by all the subjects. At the end of the study period serum testosterone and prolactin levels were estimated. The levels of testosterone and prolactin were maintained within the normal physiological limits. The subjects reported increased muscle strength and improved libido without any change in mood or sleep patterns. Fenugreek extract helps maintain natural healthy testosterone levels.

6

Fenugreek also possesses aromatase and reductase inhibitor activities, these enzymes are responsible for breakdown of testosterone in body. Thus it helps in maintaining of normal testosterone levels.

Chemforce is an innovative product rich in protodioscin, which plays significant role in maintaining and improving testosterone levels, which further contribute in muscle mass building and safe sports supplement. It’s a unique blend of highly powerful ingredients, Furosap® which is a patent protected and clinically evaluated fenugreek seed extract and Alpha Yohimbine which is a known aphrodisiac. Furosap® has been proven safe and effective for maintaining overall energy and vitality in men.

DOES LOW TESTOSTERONE LEAD TO DEPRESSION?

DOES LOW TESTOSTERONE LEAD TO DEPRESSION?

LOW TESTOSTERONE LEAD TO DEPRESSION in Testosterone deficiency is a condition when the normal levels of testosterone fall inside the male body to such level that it starts to affect the male reproductive system and masculine characteristics (such as muscle mass, bone health, hair density, sexual characteristics, etc). It may occur due to a disease or damage to the hypothalamus, pituitary gland or testicles that inhibit hormone secretion and testosterone production.

Testosterone deficiency gives rise to a number of complications. One such complication is depression. According to the International Society of Men’s Health (ISMH), men with testosterone deficiency are at higher risk of depression. The onset of depression increases the cost of treatment of testosterone deficiency.

A clinical study was conducted on 278 men over the age of 45 years for a period of four years. At the conclusion of the study, it was reported that the men who had low testosterone levels were four times as likely to be diagnosed with clinical depression as the men who had normal levels of testosterone.2

SYMPTOMS OF LOW TESTOSTERONE LEAD TO DEPRESSION IN TESTOSTERONE DEFICIENCY

  • Irritability
  • Anxiety
  • Sadness
  • Memory problems
  • Low sex drive
  • Trouble concentrating
  • Sleep problems

The symptoms of depression in testosterone deficiency are often centered around headaches and back pain.

REASON BEHIND LOW TESTOSTERONE LEAD TO DEPRESSION IN TESTOSTERONE DEFICIENCY

A study conducted by Almeida et al. on low testosterone in men suggests another possibility that lower testosterone levels in the male body contribute greatly towards depression. They may actually directly affect serotonin levels in the brain.

Serotonin is another natural hormone and one of its many roles is to help regulate the moods. Thus, disturbance in serotonin levels causes depression in men with low testosterone.

3

MANAGEMENT OF DEPRESSION IN TESTOSTERONE DEFICIENCY

4

Testosterone deficiency and depression can be managed together starting with a change in lifestyle. The following may help with both low testosterone and stress management:

  • Lose weight: Body fat makes estrogen, which can tip the ratio of estrogen to testosterone, which results in unfavorably lower amounts of testosterone.

Depression also tends to cause men to exercise less and eat fattening foods more, which further contributes to lower testosterone. When body weight is managed, the process reverses and testosterone levels tend to go back up.

5

  • Get enough sleep: Men under stress tend to be deficient in sleep and lack of sleep can lead to low testosterone & depression too. During stress, the body releases a hormone called cortisol, which actively interferes with and inhibits testosterone function in the body. Low testosterone further worsens the condition of stress and the cycle continues.

Thus, taking enough sleep can help to cope with stress and can indirectly manage the levels of testosterone in the body. Sleeping better can help to fight against stress.

6

  • Change in diet: To help boost testosterone levels naturally, high-protein and a low-fat diet are recommended by physicians.

Also limit certain foods such as those, which are high in refined sugars, salt and saturated and trans fats that can elevate triglycerides, cholesterol, and fatty acids.

7

  • Exercise: Exercise in almost any form can act as a stress reliever. Regular exercise releases endorphin neurotransmitter, which can reduce stress and help in the management of stress-induced testosterone deficiency.

Regular exercise can increase self-confidence and can help in mind relaxation. It can also lower the symptoms associated with mild depression and anxiety.

ROLE OF CHEMFORCE IN MANAGEMENT OF STRESS AND TESTOSTERONEchemforce-box

According to the clinical study conducted by Swaroop A et al., fenugreek seed extract (Furosap®), the major ingredient in CHEMFORCE is effective in the management of testosterone level in the body.

Their clinical study proved that Furosap® effectively increased testosterone levels, sperm profile, mental alertness, mood and libido in male volunteers.

Their study on 50 male volunteers showed that free testosterone levels were improved up to 46% in 90% of the study population.

Majority of the subjects enrolled in the study demonstrated improvements in mental alertness and mood. Libido was significantly improved which helped in the management of stress in the volunteers.

Their study proved that this herbal supplement was completely safe in the enrolled male volunteers as their safety parameters were within the normal range after the completion of the clinical study.

Mechanism of action: Furosap® is known to act due to the presence of its active constituent known as protodioscin.

9

Protodioscin is a steroid saponin, which has been found to promote healthy testosterone levels through its effects on testosterone-dihydrotestosterone conversion. It appears to promote the healthy production of luteinizing hormone (LH). It delivers its hormonal effects in a balanced (not over-active) fashion.

Protodioscin also promotes healthy red blood cell production, which ultimately supports healthy oxygen delivery throughout the body. This combination of hormonal and circulatory effects results in both healthy sexual function and optimal athletic endurance.

Management of testosterone levels in the body ultimately helps to manage depression.

Have you considered the Seriousness of Low Testosterone?

Men like to make jokes about Low Testosterone but a deficiency in this hormone is no laughing matter. Finding yourself unable to perform can be an alarming first for many men. However, few realize that low T can lead to serious illnesses like diabetes, osteoporosis, and cardiovascular disease.

A simple blood test can reveal if you have low T and, in this article, we will discuss the role of testosterone, lesser-known effects of low T, and treatment options to consider.

What is Normal?

Loss of testosterone is gradual, dropping by about 1% to 1.5% each year beginning at around age 40. This steady decline as a result can leave men feeling less energetic, depressed and less manly.

what is normal

A normal testosterone level will measure in a lab via a blood test at 300 to 1,000 nanograms per deciliter. However, a confirmation is needed to determine if someone has low T since these hormone levels can fluctuate throughout the day.

The Role of Testosterone:

Testosterone plays an important role in the development of men. This hormone is the main driver of puberty and is responsible for a man’s deep voice, facial hair, and muscle growth. Without testosterone, men wouldn’t have pubic hair or produce sperm. Importantly, testosterone is what gives men their sex drive.

A decline in blood testosterone after a certain age is normal however there are other, more serious causes of low T. Testicular cancer including chemo and radiation therapy as well as other forms of cancer can deplete testosterone. Excess alcohol and certain medications may be the cause in addition to pituitary and thyroid conditions. Injuries to the testes may also drain your testosterone.

What if you have Low Testosterone?

Low T can be a serious condition if left unaddressed. While a simple blood test can determine if you have low T, there are some lesser-known effects low testosterone can have on the male body:

3

  • Decreased bone density which can lead to osteoporosis
  • Irritability, depression and an inability to focus
  • A build up of body fat around the midsection which can lead to serious illnesses like type 2 diabetes, heart disease and certain cancers

Treatment:

There are a number of treatments that raise testosterone back up to a normal level, which should typically hover around 300 to 500 ng/dL.

Deep muscle injections are the most common and cost effective method of treatment. Administered every two to ten weeks, patients will feel the largest bump in testosterone during the first few days, after which levels begin to drop. If you are shy of needles, this may not be the best option as the injections themselves can be quite painful.

Treatment

Patches and gels are another form of low T treatment and can be applied daily to the skin where the testosterone is absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream. A simple and easy to use method of treatment, some side effects include skin irritations like rashes and itching. This product must also be kept out of reach of children and your partner. A nasal gel is now available to help protect others from exposure.

Implants under the skin are the newest methods of treatment. Once they are inserted, they work continuously for six months. While infections, bleeding and bruising around the insertion point are possible, these side effects are rare.

Side Effects do exist:

side-effects

Testosterone treatment can come with several risks. For some men, testosterone treatment can turn off the body’s own testicular function including both sperm and testosterone production therefore, treatment is not always recommended for men who want to conceive a child.

Testosterone replacement therapy may also increase a man’s risk for blood clots and can accelerate age-related enlargement of the prostate. Though, little evidence exists suggesting that T therapy can cause prostate cancer.

As long as you are taking testosterone, however, your doctor will likely monitor the health of your prostate.

Keep Watch of Your Health:

Watch-your-diet

While considering a treatment plan, also take into account your overall health. Maintaining a healthy diet and the right amount of exercise is vital to balanced hormones.

Fat speeds up the metabolizing of testosterone. The more fat you carry, the faster you will burn through an already depleted hormone. If you want to get the most out of testosterone therapy, put your health first and exercise regularly, eat a diet rich in whole plant foods and keep your weight down.

Natural supplements for Testosterone have shown added benefits as well:

A study out of University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas examined the effects of fenugreek supplementation on strength and body composition in resistance-trained men.

FENUGREEK & ITS ROLE IN ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION

ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION (ED)

Introduction

  • The inability to maintain or develop an erection of the penis during sexual activity in humans is termed as erectile dysfunction.
  • The development of erectile dysfunction in men increases with age. It increases from 5% to 15% as the age increases from 40 to 70 years. It is also estimated that the prevalence of erectile dysfunction will double in the next 25 years.

Causes

  • Mechanism of cause: An erection occurs when blood 2fills two chambers known as the corpora cavernosa. This causes the penis to expand and stiffen, much like a balloon as it is filled with air. The process is triggered by the action of free radical e. nitric oxide, impulses from the brain and genital nerves. Anything that blocks these actions or restricts blood flow to the penis can result in ED.
  • Other causes of erectile dysfunction are:
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Diabetes: Men with diabetes are more likely to have erectile dysfunction. They experience the problem as much as 10 to 15 years earlier than men without diabetes.
  • Lifestyle: Smoking, excessive drinking, and drug abuse may damage the blood vessels and reduce blood flow to the penis.
  • Surgery: Treatments such as surgery for prostate cancer, bladder cancer or BPH can damage nerves and blood vessels near the penis. This causes the lowering of blood flow and interferes with normal erection.
  • Hormonal insufficiency
  • Side effects from drugs such as including certain blood pressure drugs, antidepressants, and tranquilizers.
  • Psychological causes: performance anxiety, stress or mental disorders
  • Bicycling: according to the reported studies, the shape of the bicycle seats put pressure on the perineum. This area contains arteries and nerves which are damaged due to cycling for long time. This causes ED.

ROLE OF OXIDATIVE STRESS IN ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION

3

  • Oxidative stress: It is the imbalance between the production of free radicals and their detoxification by antioxidants inside human body. Superoxide (O2) is the most important among other free radicals such as hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), hypochlorous acid (HOCL) and peroxynitrite (OONO) which are involved in pathophysiological mechanism of many diseases.
  • Mechanism: Normal erectile function is dependent on the action of free radical e. nitric oxide. It acts as a neurotransmitter in the process. Under oxidative stress, the free radicals are started to produce in excess amount. The reaction of nitric oxide with other free radicals such as superoxide, leads to the disturbance in normal erection mechanism. During this imbalance, nitric oxide starts to deplete in the human body and the target action of nitric oxide i.e. penile smooth muscle relaxation, starts to fade away. This causes the ineffective relaxation in cavernosal tissue and lack of penile blood flow which results in erectile dysfunction.

ROLE OF ANTIOXIDANTS IN TREATING ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION

4

  • Antioxidants: Antioxidants are those molecules which react with free radicals to stabilize them and inhibit their unwanted reaction at other sites in the human body. They are one of the treatment options for oxidative stress-generated erectile dysfunction.
  • When free radicals cause erectile dysfunction through reacting with nitric oxide then, antioxidants work by one of the following two mechanisms:
  • Antioxidants either interfere in the production cycle of free radicals i.e. they inhibit the production of free radicals.
  • Or, they react with free radicals to stabilize them and block their reaction with nitric oxide.
  • In any case, antioxidants inhibit the reaction of free radicals with nitric oxide due to which oxidative stress is released from the cells. This causes the smooth muscle relaxation and penile blood flow which results in cavernosal tissue relaxation. Thus, erectile dysfunction originated from oxidative stress is prevented. This has also been proved by animal studies that antioxidant therapy is a good pharmacological approach to prevent erectile dysfunction.

FENUGREEK TO TREAT ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION

Introduction to fenugreek: Fenugreek is an herb, which is used traditionally in many countries as a therapy against some diseases. The seeds & leaves of fenugreek are responsible for the therapeutic properties of it. Seeds and leaves provide various bioactive components such as steroidal saponins including diosgenin, yamogenin, gitogenin, tigogenin and neotigogens, other bioactive components including choline and trimethylamine, retinol, vitamin D, riboflavin, pyridoxine and essential oils which contribute to the antioxidant property of fenugreek.

DUAL ACTIVITY OF FENUGREEK IN ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION

Fenugreek helps in the treatment of erectile dysfunction by any of the following two mechanisms given below:

Fenugreek as antioxidant: In-vitro studies prove that fenugreek has great antioxidant property. The phenolic and flavanoid compounds present in fenugreek seeds help to fight against oxidative stress. Thus, fenugreek is able to block the chain of the formation of free radicals inside body. Due to the chain inhibition, oxidative stress is also inhibited. Thus, free radicals do not react with nitric oxide in the cavernosal smooth muscles and make its availability for erection mechanism.

5

There are many published studies, which prove that antioxidants inhibit the reaction of excessive free radicals with other molecules in the body to reduce oxidative stress so that erectile dysfunction can be treated. Some of those studies are given below.

  • Kaviarasan S et al. (2007) conducted an antioxidant analysis on fenugreek seeds. Their results showed that fenugreek was able to scavenge hydroxyl radicals and also inhibited hydrogen peroxide-induced lipid peroxidation. This proves that fenugreek inhibit the free radical chain reaction. Thus, according to Azadzoi et al. antioxidant therapy by fenugreek will help to inhibit the reaction of free radicals with nitric oxide. This will further help to carry out normal erection mechanism by nitric oxide.
  • An in-vitro study conducted by Naidu MM et al. (2011) showed that fenugreek seeds are a valuable source of saponins, protein, dietary fiber and phenolic acids. These bioactive components are a natural source of antioxidants. Fenugreek was able to inhibit the activity of free radicals under in-vitro This analysis shows that fenugreek will be helpful in relieving body from oxidative stress. This in turn, will help to enhance the activity of nitric oxide.
  • Achike FI & Kwa CI published a study showing the role of nitric oxide in many physiological pathways. They showed that polyphenols have a major role to boost the effect of nitric oxide. Fenugreek also contains polyphenols as one of its bioactive components which will be beneficial to boost nitric oxide activity. Boosting of nitric oxide activity will help in normal erection mechanism.

Fenugreek as testosterone booster: The erectile dysfunction also originate if the body does not have sufficient amount of testosterones. It has been proved by many clinical studies that fenugreek has the testosterone boosting activity. When the testosterones are boosted-up then, the body also shows improvements from erectile dysfunction.

  • It is suggested that herbs for treating erectile dysfunction are better than testosterone replacement therapy. Natural treatment for erectile dysfunction does not give rise to side effects such as heart attacks or becoming dependent on therapy. Fenugreek is reported to restore the normal testosterone levels in the body by acting as an antioxidant.
  • Fenugreek has the ability to treat erectile dysfunction originated from hormonal deficiencies. It helps to promote natural testosterone levels and improve libido. It contains phytochemicals such as saponins & sapogenins which are responsible for raising testosterone levels in men.
  • It has been proved by a clinical study that standardized extract of fenugreek had positive effect on physiological aspects of libido of 60 male subjects with 25-52 years of age. Fenugreek extract helped to maintain normal testosterone levels in men. Fenugreek was able to increase muscle strength, energy and well‐being in males. Due to this, the erectile dysfunction originated from testosterone deficiency can be prevented.
  • In a randomized, double blinded and placebo controlled clinical study on 16 male subjects, it was observed that fenugreek seed extract was able to increase free testosterone and total testosterone levels in the subjects. Fenugreek was also found to be safe and well-tolerated. This clinical study shows that fenugreek supplementation has potential androgenic benefits in males.
  • CHEMFORCE is a natural and promising dietary supplement comprising Furosap® containing Protodioscin as the major fraction. It is reported to improve sperm count, sperm morphology and has a protective effect on male reproductive system. Protodioscin is known to increases levels of the hormones; testosterone, dihydrotestosterone and dehydroepiandrosterone. It boosts testosterone levels via stimulating pituitary gland. CHEMFORCE consists of a patented and clinically evaluated ingredient establishing its efficacy and safety for overall energy and vitality in men.

According to these reported studies, choosing fenugreek as a natural therapy to treat erectile dysfunction has proved to be safe and effective in men.
